Gun violence has always been a theme in New York City. In the years of the Pandemic, it dramatically increased. I worked on these stories as a freelancer for the New York Post. In the Summer of 2020 I covered the slaying of Brandon Henricks a 17 year old rising basketball star who was loved by his community.  In the Summer of 2021 I covered the fatal shooting of Justin Wallace a 10 year old boy. These stories do not receive the same national or even international coverage as the mass shootings do – but these shootings are happening constantly.
